Interstate
Financial Services, Inc. owners, Brenda Myers, LUTCF, FSS and Harvey Tegeler, LUTCF,
FSS, FIC received the Allianz Life Masters Club Gold Award for 2010. This was awarded at their Westminster office on May 1, 2011 for outstanding business conducted through Allianz Life during the 2010 production year. Both
Myers and Tegeler are members of National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard
and serve as Board of Directors.

Harvey Tegeler, LUTCF, FSS, FIC,
co-owner of Interstate Financial Services, Inc. completed the requirements and was awarded the signature FIC (Fraternal Insurance
Counselor) designation by Fraternal Field Managers Association. This designation represents advanced training
in life insurance, annuities, long term care & disability insurance as well as retirement, senior and estate planning
techniques. The Fraternal Field Managers Association FIC designation was founded in 1937. Harvey
has been a top field representative of Western Catholic Union Life (WCU) since 2007. WCU Life has been a fraternal life insurance
company protecting members with high quality
life insurance and annuities since 1877.

Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard is announcing the formation of a class
needed for Financial Services Specialist designation (FSS) or
Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow (LUTCF).
The
eight week class “Foundations of Financial Planning: The Process” will begin on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the offices of Interstate Financial Services, Inc. located at
401 E. Main St., Westminster,
MD 21157.
Classes run from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. For

National
Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard presented a $500 check March 10th
at the general membership meeting to American Cancer Society Community Manager Jen Burdette for the
annual Relay for Life Campaign. The association has fielded a team which will participate
in the event May 13 and 14th at the Carroll County Ag Center.

National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard donated two $500
scholarships to Carroll Community College at the February 10th general membership meeting.
Accepting the checks is Steven Wantz, Executive Director for Carroll Community
College Foundation.The two recipients of the scholarships were Kayla Crocker, a second semester Nursing program major and
Tyler McCarthy, first year general studies major with emphasis in Wildlife and Fisheries. Due to class
schedules, neither were able to attend the meeting.

Advisors-Carroll/Howard participated in the Shepherd’s Staff annual Call for Coats program by
donating coats and toiletries for the Blessing Closet.
The association also presented a check for $500 to help fund additional programs offered to the community at the general membership meeting held on November 11th
at the Best Western Conference Center.

Participates in Westminster Relay for Life On May 14th & 15th National Association of Insurance & Financial
Advisors-Carroll/Howard fielded a team “Lifers” to raise monies for the American Cancer
Society’s Relay for Life held at the Ag Center in Westminster. This team

Meets With Legislators on May 13, 2010
On May 13, 2010, National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard
met with Maryland state legislators at a general membership meeting for
a Maryland legislative update, held at the Best Western Catering Conference
Center in Westminster. The legislators summarized bills
that passed this last session and updates for the next session.

Myers Awarded Membership to Million Dollar Round Table
Brenda Myers, LUTCF, FSS, co-owner of Interstate Financial Services, Inc. was awarded membership into the Million
Dollar Round Table (MDRT) for 2010 as a Qualifying Member. This marks her first year of membership.
MDRT is the premier association of financial professionals. Founded in 1927, MDRT provides
its members with resources to improve their technical knowledge, sales and client service while maintaining a culture
of high ethical standards. Less than 2% of all advisors qualify for MDRT membership internationally.
Myers is a member of National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard where
she serves as a Board of Director and Community Service
Chairperson.

Tegeler Earns Life Membership to Million Dollar Round Table
Harvey Tegeler, LUTCF, FSS, co-owner of Interstate Financial Services, Inc. was awarded membership
into the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) for 2010 as a Life Member. This marks his 7th straight
year in the MDRT and fourth straight year qualifying for Court of the Table. MDRT is the premier association
of financial professionals. Founded in 1927, MDRT provides its members with resources to improve
their technical knowledge, sales and client service while maintaining a culture of high ethical standards.
Less than 2% of all advisors qualify for MDRT membership internationally.

Breakfast to Breakfast Campaign National Association
of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard presented a check for $750
to David Taylor, Chairman of Board of Directors for Carroll County Food Sunday at its December 10th meeting. The association
raised monies through member donations. Additionally, the organization

Local
Association Wins Coveted National Award Cherie Jenkins, President of National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard
and Steve Aquino, Past President of National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard
attended the National Convention of NAIFA held September 20th – 23rd
in Orlando, Florida as representatives for NAIFA-Carroll/Howard. During the convention, Steve Aquino
was presented with two awards which were earned during his term as President. He
received the National Membership Award for his efforts as Membership Chairman this past year where
he exceeded the goal set by NAIFA federation for bringing new members into the association and
retention of current members. Aquino also received the coveted 2008-2009 Jack
E. Bobo Award of Excellence. The award recognizes associations in the NAIFA
federation that excel in areas critical to their success and growth over a one-year period.
Those areas are member benefits, advocacy, membership and governance. Both
attendees took part in discussions and voting on various insurance related matters to the NAIFA
federation.

NAIFA-Carroll/Howard takes Top Honors at Leadership Conference
National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard was recognized as
the number one association in the State of Maryland at the annual leadership conference held in
Annapolis, MD on September 16, 2009. Under the leadership of President Steve
Aquino, NAIFA-Carroll/Howard was recognized for outstanding community service and public relations,
achieving membership goals, providing ongoing continuing education programs for the members and contributions
to the local Political Action Committees to help with regulations in the insurance industry.
This is the 2nd year NAIFA-Carroll/Howard has been recognized for its outstanding efforts. Pictured is Roger Diehl,

Steve Aquino, outgoing President with a plaque and gavel and thanked him for his outstanding leadership over the
past 2 years that he served as President. Under his leadership, the association was awarded Association
of the Year in Maryland. Presenting Aquino his plaque is Cherie Jenkins, incoming President.
Four Earn Top Recognition at Leadership
Conference
The following National Association of Insurance &
Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard members received awards from the Maryland Association of Insurance
& Financial Advisors during the annual leadershipconference
held on September 16, 2009. Harvey Tegeler, Past President and Professional Development Chairman, received
the Professional Development Award. During the past year, Tegeler organized
and taught several courses to local agents for continuing education. He also
organized an all-day Super Continuing Education Saturday for agents. This is the fifth-consecutive
year that Tegeler has received this award. Brenda Myers. Community Service Chairwoman, received the
Kurt Andrews Community Service Award for her leadership in the local community service projects
for the association, which include participation in Shepherd
Staff Call for Coats program, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Scholarships awarded to
both Carroll Community College and Howard County Community College. This is the seventh-consecutive
year that Myers has received this award. Karen Palmer, Public Relations Chairwoman, received the State
Public Relations Award. Palmer was recognized for outstanding media coverage
of local association activities through the year. This is the thirteenth-consecutive
year she has received the award. Steve Aquino, Membership Chair, received the local Membership Award
for achieving goals set by the State in recruiting and retention
of members. During the past year, 19 new members joined National Association
of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard. The association ended the fiscal year with 77 members.

On September 10, 2009 at the general membership meeting of National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard, Ed Leister was presented with the Member of the Year Award for National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Carroll/Howard for 2009. Leister has served as treasurer for the past 8 years. His dedication in keeping the books and volunteering in any way to further the association garnered him the award.
